Cascade Azalea

Another shrub that was lifted from the garden when I first moved in a few years ago.  It was originally pretty much prostrate on the soil and hadn’t grown large at all.  I got fed up with my kids trampling over it so decided to lift it after a year and put it into a flowerpot of similar soil with a bit of extra drainage.

Lifted and tilted. A nice semi cascade image to build upon.

March 2105. Old clay soil removed. Branches thinned out. Minor pruning. Tilted again for a more dynamic cascading image. Perhaps more pruning later in the year.

Old scar gives it character.

      • This gives me hope for my azalea. I was worried that 2 of 6 of mine were dead, because they don’t seem to grow, push new shoots, or flower. The other 4 have. Does this one grow new shoots?
